Back in March 2020, at the start of Covid, I realised we were going to need resilience. Little did I know how much… And I quickly wrote a book, which was duly published in summer 2021, Be Resilient. Fresh-faced with my new-found skills of presenting to camera, I gave a short talk for my online launch, which I recorded. And because we were mid-Euros for the men’s football, even I got into the spirit of things…
Anyway, the video is worth sharing with your young people, whether you’re a parent or a teacher or other interested adult, and I’m putting it here now so that it will be part of the resources I’ll share with the audience for my forthcoming public talk at Westonbirt School.
I hope it will give you a flavour of my words and what kind of things you might hear me say - though I’ll be talking about much more than resilience - if you come to that FREE event on Sept 1st. I will also have signed books to sell and free postcards to give away.
A few things to note:
I mention that a full version of a webinar on resilience is available on my website. It isn’t any more but I can make it available to schools or parent groups for a modest fee. Ask me for more details.
I mention two blog posts:
Here is the one in response to a parent asking how to help a child through a distressing incident at school: Helping a child through distress
And here is the one about cake: Resilience and a cake cost-benefit analysis
Please come to the talk on Sept 1st! Westonbirt School is STUNNING and it’s the first time I’ve been back since I left 46 years ago. And, judging from my emotional overwhelm yesterday when I found myself visiting the home where my family lived for also 46 years, it could be, erm, an interesting spectacle….
And you can read part of my last science report! I must be bonkers.
Please share details of the event - I’d love an audience!
