In which I prove that I have a life outside work
Yes, I apologise (sort of) for not having written here recently. You might think it’s because I’ve been preparing for my last-ever public webinar (tonight), as indeed I have. (Welcome to all those of you joining me here on Substack after that.) But it’s also that I have been preparing for a big Spring Plant Sale which I’m organising in my Northants/Rutland border village this Sunday. Above is one of our village planters - the herb one, where I grow some unusual tastes and encourage anyone to come and snip some. Scissors provided!
Because, indeed, I have a life! When I’m not writing or speaking or thinking, I’m gardening, running or walking. I have a huge veg garden and I love to be out in it at any time of year. (Well, almost.) Luckily, my garden office is right in the middle of the garden so it’s easy to leave my desk and go and weed/water/sow/cut/harvest/net/spray (with water - I use no pesticides etc).
I run the gardening group, through which we share plants, produce, tips and commiserations. It keeps me healthy and happy! It is, in fact, why I’m mentally and physically strong (usually) despite sleeping badly and often working too hard for my own good.
Here is one of my homegrown salads ready to give to a friend:
And here are some of the ten varieties of tomatoes getting ready for the sale on Sunday:
The sun is out! At last, spring is here. I hope you have the chance to notice it and appreciate it.
See many of you tonight at the 100% sold-out and final webinar!
